The following is a guest blog-post by Syed Jaffery, a male Hijama Practitioner in Maryland, Baltimore, USA.maryland

Please give us a short introduction about yourself, and in particular how you ended up being a hijama therapist?

Back In 2013, my mother was ill and I found Hijama Therapy (Cupping) and finished certification in Hijama Therapy from UK based, The Optimum Cure and Care, solely for the reason of helping her. I didn’t get the chance to perform Hijama on my mother. I experimented and did Hijama on myself. I had a long history of cervical spondylitis, so I trained my wife so she could perform Hijama therapy on me. Afterwards, my neck pain was relieved and my sleep problems solved. Soon after, I had done Hijama therapy on my wife and sister. They told me how their health was better after Hijama; then I expressed this practice of Hijama Therapy (Cupping), to two of my friends, who wanted me to try it on them. Slowly, but steadily, my friends spread the news of this marylandmapforgotten Sunnah, of beloved Prophet Mohammed ﷺ to others. I had started doing Hijama Therapy within our family and friends; it slowly started to spread as more people were aware that we were reviving a Sunnah

Initially, I never intended to do Hijama Therapy (Cupping) to help others. Anyhow, people were interested and it went from there. So far I have helped approximately 500 people, who have witnessed better health and well-being. I opened a clinic Maryland Hijama Center (A Place of Cupping Therapy) in Baltimore, Maryland in 2016.

My intention is to educate people with this blessed Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

What particular illnesses/ conditions (if any), do you specialise / had the most experience in?

My each case is unique and Alhamdulillah I have done Hijama on them and Allah sunha hu tala cured them 100%. Here is the list of medical conditions I have worked on.

  • Plantar fasciitis,
  • Lymphoma (Cancer of lymphatic system),
  • Migraine,
  • Back pain,
  • Heart blockages,
  • Mental Problem,
  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Cervical spondylosis,
  • Joint Pain,
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Knee Pain,
  • Arthritis,
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Colon Cancer,
  • Tendonitis,
  • Sight problem,
  • Hyper Tension,
  • High Blood Pressure,
  • Diabetes, prostate enlargement,
  • Obesity etc., etc.

And do you find that in your experience, the conditions/illnesses that you have come across respond well to cupping (hijama) therapy? And if so, what are they?

Alhamdulillah, all the cases I have worked on them was 100% success rate with Hijama only.

The conditions I have mentioned above. When patient give correct information it works better otherwise it take little longer time.

Do you have any interesting case-studies that you can briefly share with us from your hijama treatments?

23 years old young man approached me about MS (multiple sclerosis).

He wanted to know if Hijama can cure it, my answer was look at the Hadith of Prophet Mohammad SAW, indeed the Best you have is Al- Hijama. So you should try.

He replied me Brother if this is the Hadith then please do it.

I had Wet Hijama therapy on him 5 time on monthly basis.

Alhamdulillah, He got cured from it. Now, he is back to his normal life and working at present.

Also what would you say about using cupping as a general preventative therapy and how often would you recommend this (once a month? once/twice a year?)

Yes, Hijama is a preventative medicine and a Healthy person should have it done at least twice a year if he is under 40 years of age.

For overweight above 40 years old should have at least 3 times a year.

As a hijama therapist, how often do you get hijama done yourself, and what for (if any specific condition) and who do you go to to get it done (since it is not an easy therapy to self-administer)?

In fact after completing my Hijama Certification I have tried Hijama to myself on my feet to see how Hijama works and to know what is Hijama.

Alhamdulillah, I had longtime pain in my right toe it did work very good the pain level drops to almost no pain.

My wife does Hijama to me every 2-3 months on Sunnah points and once at least on head.

What is the status and overall prevalance of hijama therapy in Maryland and in the USA ? Is it available in hospitals and clinics as a valid alternative / sunnah therapy?

I was the first one who started doing Hijama Therapy State of Maryland, USA Back in 2013.

Recently, I have opened Hijama office ( Hijama Clinic) in Baltimore City. Alhamdulillah every day I get calls and I am getting busy. There is no Hijama in Hospitals in US but community people do comes for Hijama Therapy because it is Sunnah and Recommended by our beloved prophet of Allah.

There is more peoples started doing Hijama in Maryland as well as in US.

Whereabouts is your clinic or practice located and what services do you offer?

Currently, I am offering Hijama Therapy, Cupping Therapy for both men and women and my Clinic Located in city of Baltimore, Maryland, US.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Whenever we get sick, first thing we should do is make 2 raka Nafil Salath, then give some charity ( Sadqa), make Dua to Allah (ask Allah for help) then look for Best possible things available.
