Hijama Therapy in Leytonstone, East London, UK

.

The following is a guest blog- post by Mahreen Akhtar, a female Hijama Therapist in Leytonstone.

– Please give us a short introduction about yourself, and in particular how you ended up being a hijama therapist?

I have always had an interest in health and finding ways to help benefit others’ in many ways. I believe this will be a good way to help others maintain their health as well as doing a good deed. I gained knowledge that Hijama is a Sunnah and immediately had the intention to learn and expand my knowledge within in.

I myself had Hijama in the past and realised its benefits when I began to see a change in myself once undergoing a few treatments myself.

– What particular illnesses/ conditions (if any), do you specialise / had the most experience in?

Through my course of training I have maintained knowledge in many areas and would like to put this forward in to practice. I have understanding of the different points of Hijama and its links to the benefits of relief from illness as well as to cup around the areas of pain.

Majority of my clients will come in with regards to pain in certain areas. The types of areas I have treatment to date are for: Frozen shoulder, knee pain, infertility, hormonal imbalance, headaches, sleep apnea, skin conditions, sunnah cupping, detox etc.
However Hijama can help in many other areas such as the following:

– Plantar fasciitis,

– Migraine,
– Back pain,

– Mental Problem,
– Depression & Anxiety
– Cervical spondylosis,
– Joint Pain,
– Shoulder Pain
– Knee Pain,
– Arthritis,
– Carpal Tunnel

– Tendonitis,
– Sight problem,
– Hyper Tension,
– High Blood Pressure,
– Diabetes,
– Prostate enlargement,
– Obesity etc.

– And do you find that in your experience, the conditions/illnesses that you have come across respond well to cupping (hijama) therapy? And if so, what are they?

Myself and my current clients have always noticed a difference in their conditions once having Hijama. My most current successful case was a tackle towards infertility. after 4 sessions of cupping my client has been able to conceive a child.

– Do you have any interesting case-studies that you can briefly share with us from your hijama treatments?

See above.

– Also what would you say about using cupping as a general preventative therapy and how often would you recommend this (once a month? once/twice a year?)

Once a month – however this is dependable on conditions and what the patient problem areas are. A individual treatment plan would be designed as a rough guide towards cure.

– As a hijama therapist, how often do you get hijama done yourself, and what for (if any specific condition) and who do you go to to get it done (since it is not an easy therapy to self-administer)?

I normally get my stomach area due to having a very acidic stomach – this has helped me over the years. I normally have my treatments monthly I have seen a difference in my health as I get less indigestion and heartburn Alhamdulillah.

 – What is the status and overall prevalence of hijama therapy in London and in the UK ? Is it available in hospitals and clinics as a valid alternative / sunnah therapy?

Hijama is currently not being offered under the NHS within hospitals or GP’s within London. However there are many Hijama therapists and clinics which to carry out this service within London it is being voiced a lot within the area and people are aware of its benefits due to others speaking of it or seeing a difference in those whom have had this treatment previously.

However there are also those who are misled and are told that it will not make much of a difference – however as a therapist myself I believe that it can make a change as I have seen so myself

– Whereabouts is your clinic or practice located and what services do you offer?
